I was reading my usual Amy Winehouse/Britney/Iraq news and i saw something interesting. Apparently some US companies are quietly reducing the size of the packagees/portions they are selling.
Same price, smaller package. Genious/evil.
More after the flip.
The story is not in english, so you have use your own eyes next time you buy something. No links, so take this with a grain of salt.
Apparently several US companies (and European, but that wasn't in the story) have been gaming the system, but you have to careful to see it.
Apparently a package that was had a gallon..now has 25% less.
Buying a beer? The bottom of the class pint may be thicker, there is less rome for the beer(this may give 20 pints more /barrel).
The Nielsen corporation is saying that some 30% of companies are doing this, a consumer expert is saying it is only 10% of comapanies.
So, have you seen this in your store?
(yes, this isn't much of a diary, but if you like to talk aobut this..)
EDIT: Ok, i this is the story in english. USA Today.
